Sword & Sorcery: Ancient Chronicles offers a fully cooperative fantasy board game experience for one to five players, each assuming the role of legendary Heroes endowed with distinct abilities. The narrative follows these Heroes, resurrected by the will of the Three Gods, as they engage in a quest to vanquish false and corrupt deities that have gained worship across the realm.

This title marks the second season in the Sword & Sorcery saga, serving as a prequel to the previously successful Immortal Souls, often heralded as one of the premier cooperative dungeon-crawlers available. This iteration seeks to elevate the existing game system through new features that enrich storytelling, expand adventure possibilities, and introduce a wider array of adversaries for players to confront.

Ancient Chronicles stands as a standalone experience; while it is not necessary for players to have Immortal Souls to engage with this game, compatibility is a notable advantage—players can seamlessly incorporate Heroes and enemies from both seasons into their campaigns, enhancing strategic options and gameplay variety.
